Matching with a Financial Advisor
When we’ve connected you to a professional advisor who thinks they’re a good match for you, we’ll send you an email and a notification on your Unbiased account.
Your professional advisor will receive a request to contact you as soon as possible. This will usually be by phone, so please expect a call at the earliest opportunity.
Check your email to find out the name of the advisor that will contact you so you can be confident that you are speaking with the right person.
Your first contact with your financial advisor will probably be on the phone. This is an excellent opportunity to clarify details and ensures you get the best use of your time.
Before you do anything else, ask your advisor to tell you the name of their firm and check that it’s the firm named in your Unbiased notification email. This ensures it’s you are speaking with the SEC-regulated firm Unbiased has found for you.
Once you’ve confirmed the advisor’s identity, give a quick recap of your reasons for wanting to speak to them. The advisor will then tell you whether they can help, and you can arrange a mutually convenient time to meet. For example, some advisors will hold these first meetings at their office, whereas others are open to video technology such as Zoom and Microsoft Teams.

Ahead of your first meeting, set aside fifteen minutes or so to think about what you want to achieve. You might have a clear-cut question in mind, such as ‘I want to start accessing my retirement fund next year,’ or it might be more general, such as ‘I want to optimize my family’s finances in the years ahead.’
While your first meeting may range over several different topics, over and above your main inquiry, planning ahead and developing specific questions means you’ll have a set goal in mind for what you want to achieve.

Yes, having a free first consultation with a professional before engaging in their services is common. At the meeting, your chosen professional will explain what they can offer you, while you can ask them any initial questions. It’s a good idea to discuss their fees upfront and ask what value you can expect in return.

We strive to connect as many individuals as possible with unbiased financial advice from our pool for SEC-regulated advisors. Sometimes, we are unable to find you a suitable match. Often the reason you haven’t been matched is that there wasn’t enough information in your initial inquiry to provide you a match. We recommend you review your information and, where possible, provide additional details and submit another request via our matching engine.
Other reasons your inquiry may have not been matched include:
Within your region there are currently no advisers providing the specialist services you have requested.
Your asset levels are too low; some advisors may decide they cannot offer you good value.
